Live Oak Bank Uses Island Password Manager to Simplify and Secure Access to Critical Applications
Video Summary: Live Oak Bank & Island Password Manager
Leaders and managers from Live Oak Bank discuss their transition to the Island Enterprise Browser, specifically focusing on Island Password Manager.
- Security Shift: Historically, the bank was skeptical of password managers due to high-profile breaches of consumer-based products. Island changed this by integrating security controls and telemetry directly into the browser.
- Efficiency Gains: With thousands of employees accessing hundreds of web applications, the centralized Island dashboard saves significant time by providing one-click access to all company shortcuts and credentials.
- User Confidence: Employees report a seamless experience and feel more secure using Island compared to traditional third-party password managers, citing the bank's tech-forward approach to innovation.

BJ Losch (President, Live Oak Bank): Innovation is in our DNA. We don't just offer banking or lending products. We combine the human touch of people with a tech-forward and innovative view of how to serve those customers most effectively.
George Werbacher (Head of Security Operations and Engineering, Live Oak Bank): The password manager in Island, I think, is one of the coolest technologies because it's something historically in security we've been very against. There's been a lot of different breaches happening with consumer-based password managers, and so almost every organization I've been a part of has outlawed them completely.
With Island, allowing the different controls and adding that telemetry into the same browser experience that we're doing from data loss prevention was really cool and really helped us with moving away from the password manager because everything was very well integrated and just seamlessly connected between all the different applications we're using.
Alex Hatton (Security Portfolio Manager, Live Oak Bank): People were really excited about Island. Overall, it just felt a lot more seamless to have company passwords in one place, all of our company shortcuts in one place. We have hundreds of web apps that we use across the company, so you can imagine how much time was saved across a thousand people logging in to so many websites.
Whitty Stephens (Closing Team Manager, Live Oak Bank): Password manager has been great. I honestly love going into Island, especially if I'm using something for a new website, to be able to save my passwords. I would 100% hesitate using another security password manager. Island, I don't have that fear. Knowing the security process that Island does to help us makes me feel more secure.
