How it works
Island connects to Slack to govern agent access, facilitate browser automations, enable employee-built AI apps, and allow Island Chat to read threads and post messages.
Island MCP Gateway
Island MCP Gateway governs and routes access between AI agents and the Slack MCP server. An agent goes through the gateway instead of holding a Slack credential of its own, and the gateway manages access and applies policies to the agent activity.

AI Automate
AI Automate builds agentic workflows in the browser, and Slack actions can run as steps inside them. A workflow can read a thread or post messages as part of a workflow. All workflow actions are governed by policy.

AI Publish
AI Publish allows employees to build internal apps with AI and share them with their organization as browser widgets or standalone apps, and Island applies enterprise policies and controls to them. This connection allows these apps to access or post to Slack.

Island Chat is an AI app that is fully integrated with the enterprise browser. With this connection, it can pull context from Slack conversations and posts on behalf of the user, allowing the user to catch up on a thread and draft a reply without leaving the page in front of them.
